Speaking Volumes is a live literature organisation specialising in getting underrepresented voices heard, reaching diverse audiences and finding exciting ways to present the work of writers.


Beyond Literature Borders

A grant programme for new international work, supporting UK arts organisations who are diverse-led and/or working with underrepresented voices to develop a project with overseas partners. In partnership with the British Council, Speaking Volumes will administer four Beyond Literature Borders grants of £7000.

SongMaps Rye


A new pilot project based in Rye, Sussex: SongMaps is a series of five workshops bringing artists from poetry, music and the visual arts together with inter-generational participants from Rye to address the issues that are most pressing to coastal communities on the front line of climate change and rising seas.

Epic Conversation: Bernardine Evaristo and Roger Robinson

For the final event of the A Portable Paradise Tour, TS Eliot Prize winner Roger Robinson was interviewed by Booker Prize winner Bernardine Evaristo. This Epic Conversation took place at the Black Cultural Archives in Brixton, with a special invited audience of established and emerging writers, producers and supporters who have been part of Roger’s journey to his book and who he wanted to celebrate with.
